For sale: 1957 MGA (Listed 1/12/23)
DESCRIPTION (via the owner “Russ”): I have owned this car since March 2006, always garaged and no exposure to salt/snow/ice roads. Mechanically this car is sound and reliable: less than 6,000 miles on a rebuilt 1800 cc (3-main bearing) block (in 2014 by Apex Automotive Engineering, Bensenville, IL) , hardened valves and seats (also by Apex), rebuilt SU carbs (by me in 2015), electronic “123 Ignition”, reconditioned master cylinder, refurbished wiper motor, newer clutch, “MGA Guru” rear crank seal, newly rebuilt front lever shocks (2022 by Worldwide Auto Parts, Madison, WI), new battery (2022). Solid frame. Other than the machining work, most of the labor has been done by me with help from Chicagoland MG Club members. The engine was re-assembled by an experienced Club member using proper measurements.
This car is fitted with an after-market canvass backed vinyl top and side aluminum framed curtains. The top functions but is used only when necessary – it’s too fun to drive top-down.
I have brought this MGA to the point that the next step is body and paint work which I do not have the time or talent to perform. The car deserves a proper finish.

Valve cover gasket and starter replaced. Coolant parts replaced. Still has little leak front from around timing chain cover, but my mechanic suggests is easy fix. Runs great.
