Ridin’ with Ralph & Susan
February 2026 – Blount British Car Club Newsletter
Just another perfect day…
…to be in a British car!
On February 10th the weather was warm with only a few clouds in the skies. We met at the Maryville Gas & Go on the Lamar Alexander Parkway. We parked our little British cars and gathered together. There were MGs and Triumphs of course. We chatted with our friends and yes, mostly about cars. It was a great start to the day ahead.
Then we heard the call for a driver meeting. We gathered around Jesse Lehn to hear the details of our drive to the Foothills Parkway, the stops and trip to Townsend and lunch.
The ride was to recognize the birthday of Sir John Black, who acquired Triumph in the late 50s and brought the company into its golden age. To commemorate, enthusiasts world over get out and drive their Triumphs in celebration.

There were four beautiful specimens on the drive and also a great showing of their cousins, the MGs.
We also may have a new young member whose first name is Cecil and who drives a beautiful MG 1100. I am pretty sure he will be joining us in the BBC.
The drive was, of course, scenic. How could it not be in this state. Up the Foothills Parkway and stops for pics.

Our lunch was at The Abby in Townsend which was sooooo appropriate as Townsend is not just the gateway to the Smokies but is the home of our ”Springtime in the Smokies” annual car show.
