“Not” the Best Day for a Drive in a British Car…..

(…..but then, no one really cared!!)

Jesse & Mallory Lehn’s scenic drive planned for February 10th was conducted, as scheduled, Monday. We met at the designated Gas N Go in Maryville at 10 AM.

The weather was very typically English i.e. cloudy, misty and cool. Having family in the north of England I can attest to this. We all thought from the get-go that the weather might not be the best given reports but, as the title of this story suggests, I doubt anyone really cared….no rain at least!!

I do not know the actual count of cars, but a good guess is 12-14. Again, another great showing of club members getting together to drive their British cars but just as importantly (and probably more importantly in this case) just to get together! We drove the newer stretch of the Foothills Parkway and stopped along the way for pictures, socializing but not too much scenic viewing as there really wasn’t much through the misty air. Again, I doubt anyone really cared as the entire trip was highlighted as a drive through the country with friends.

There was a variety of cars including MGs, Triumphs and Jaguars. There were even representatives from Italy, Japan, Germany and Sweden. In any event, it was a good grouping. This club does have diversity!

Once over the Foothills path we headed for Townsend and had lunch at the nice little place called Peaceful Side Social! Fast service and good food. We all sat down, talked English car war stories and even made some new friends.

After lunch we said good drive and goodbye and went our separate ways home. It was a good day to be in a British car even with the weather but it was actually dry and I should have brought the B!

Thanks to Jesse and Mallory for a great drive and another opportunity to get the gang together.
