What a Great Day to be in a British Car!

Last Saturday promised from the start to be a really great day for a drive in the country. The weather was perfect and my ’72 B was just raring to go! Susan and I were heading to the rendezvous point at the Louisville Point Park and we decided to take the back roads to get there would be a good warm up to the BBC club drive i.e. “Circuit de la Blount” hosted by Jesse & Mallory Lehn.

We had 22 members in all kinds of British cars attend. A good group! The 45-minute run drove through various tree-lined parts of Blount Country. I have always said being a flat flat-lander from Chicago, that every road in Tennessee is an MG road and the tour that Jesse & Mallory drew up last Saturday was certainly a real barn burner for beautiful Tennessee scenery.

The drive, the weather and even our British cars all cooperated to make this a great way to spend an October Saturday. The Blount County countryside is a great place to drive as every road has its curves, its tree lined sides and shade (no over heating here). Susan and I both enjoyed this relaxed cruising through the hills and dales of the county.

The tour ended at the Lehn residence where Jesse & Mallory treated us to a full course lunch ….. or was it dinner?? Everyone had time to sit and trade their British car stories and just get to know each other a little better. Coming from a very socially oriented club in Chicago, I could appreciate this kind of opportunity to sit with other club members and get to know them.

I would encourage others (especially newer members of the BBC) to join in these drives as they are a great way to make new friends and get to know the club better. Everyone who owns a British car has his/her own “war stories” which makes for easy conversation. MANY THANKS TO JESSE & MALLORY!
